Great choice, because it is absolutely beautiful. I’ve been lucky enough to have been twice for completely different reasons, but the end result was the same - it was memorable, and I had a BLAST!
My first time there was at an all-inclusive resort - Iberostar Selection Playa Mita. I felt extremely happy, relaxed, entertained, and well-fed. It was PARADISE. I didn’t go as far as falling asleep in a chair by the pool for hours to then wake up with a ridiculous, oddly shaped sunburn - that would have definitely added to my story. But here is where my story DOES take an unexpected turn…
While sitting around the pool and chatting with fellow vacationers, a young couple mentioned they were stepping off the inclusive grounds to partake in a whale watching/island tour and extended the invitation. I was hesitant at first. But after I did some research on the Chica Locca Boat Tour, I signed up. I was ready to go the next day.
Once my newfound Canadian friends and I arrived at the marina, I didn’t have much expectation for what was going to happen. All I knew was that it was going to be good, because for one, the boat had a waterslide (that’s what sold me).
When the guides decided it was time to leave the dock, we took an incredibly freeing ride alongside a beautiful whale who led the charge. Music, food, drinks, and high-energy adults accompanied the boat and the view of an inhabited island eventually came into view.

Overall, the entire experience was unexpected and turned out to be the rejuvenation I didn’t know my soul needed. If you’re headed to Puerto Vallarta or looking into all-inclusive experiences and fun adventures, I highly recommend checking out Iberostar and Chica Locca Tours!
